Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the United States
The Embassy represents the Dominican State before the US Government. It sits at 1715 22nd Street NW in Washington and opens Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, four hours a day.
Its role is diplomatic: bilateral relations, trade, culture and cooperation. Consular work is the exception and it is narrowly defined.

What an embassy does and what a consulate does
An embassy represents one State before another. There is one per country and it sits in the capital. It handles the political, commercial and cultural relationship between the two governments.
A consulate serves people: passports, civil registry, powers of attorney, certificates. There are as many as needed and they divide the territory between them.
Which is why the Washington Embassy is not where you renew a passport if you live in New York or Miami, senior though it is.
This directory is run privately. consuladosdominicana.us does not belong to the Dominican Government or to any of its consular offices.
We publish what the official sources say and point out where they disagree. Before travelling, check the detail with the office.
